A
sneak peek at something that inspired this tale...
From
the 80's I've been a huge fan of Madness. Suggs and the boys were
fabulous fun, in fact they still tour today! Anyway, once I received
an iPod, all my CD's went on and there they were whenever I walked, hit
the treadmill, whatever. Since I first heard 'It Must Be Love' ,
it's been a favorite of mine. Then, one day I 'm writing and I heard
it playing as the background music for a Levi jean commercial and it
stayed with me.
After
I finished the story I'd been working on, I picked up the next,
'Extreme Speed, Total Control', which had a rough plot about a couple who
don't realize how much they mean to each other until it's too late, once
he figures it out, he works to get it all back again, all grounded in my
time living in a foreign country. It can be a very isolating
feeling, not knowing anyone and finding a way to connect with them.
I quickly figured out sports, and knowing something about them, was the
best way to meet and talk with people. I picked up and still love
football [soccer to Americans] and F1 racing, both found in this story.
In
the end, with this song playing on a loop in my head, it managed to weave
its way throughout the story. Here are the words:
I
never thought I'd miss you
Half as much as I do
And I never thought I'd feel this way
The way I feel
About you
As soon as I wake up
Every night, every day
I know that it's you I need
To take the blues away
It must be love, love, love
It must be love, love, love
Nothing more, nothing less
Love is the best
How can it be that we can
Say so much without words?
Bless you and bless me
Bless the bees
And the birds
I've got to be near you
Every night, every day
I couldn't be happy
Any other way
It must be love, love, love
It must be love, love, love
Nothing more, nothing less
Love is the best
As soon as I wake up
Every night, every day
I know that it's you I need
To take the blues away
It must be love, love, love
It must be love, love, love
Nothing more, nothing less
Love is the best
It must be love, love, love... |
