A sneak peek at something that inspired this tale...

There is absolutely nothing nice, fun, or entertaining about a natural disaster and the victims it leaves in its wake.  However, they do tend to bring out the best in a community, even a nation.  Now, I guess I should confess that it's because of my family and coming from a small town prone to slides and fires, that I had to do something to help.  Thankfully, the Coming Together series put this book together, and happens to be the perfect venue for me to do what I could.

The short was there in my head as soon as I saw the call for submissions - of course I'd have a firefighter as the hero.  You see, firefighters are a part of my family, past and present.  In case you didn't know this, then check out "The Write Ingredients".  The recipe I have in the cookbook is one my grandmother used to make for the firehouse and is still a favorite of mine today.
