Tilly Greene Tilly Greene was born into the easy folds of a sleepy beach town and embraces the laid back mindset she grew up with. Life took a turn one day while sitting in the back of the school bus with her friends: she was introduced to the joys of romance novels and has never looked back. Every day she looks forward to writing about women who are independent and confident, the men who love them, and their twisting path to a happy-ever-after ending. Backlist An

Interview with Tilly Greene By
Holly Hewson, Marketing Director for The Romance Studio HH: Tilly, welcome back to TRS BLUE. Please tell us about your featured work, Taming Marie Antoinette. TG: Hey there Holly, lovely to be back chatting with you. Taming Marie Antoinette has a woman who must organize an event for her doctorate. The exhibition showcases Haute Couture through time and Liana Trudeau moves to Paris to pull it all together. She's working hard and decides to let loose and attends the annual Depravity Dance where she meets two men who suit her perfectly. Now, the Michaud brothers will leave you speechless. These two men know what they want and have no qualms going after it, and that includes Liana. Problem is, she throws them a curve and disappears before they can get her details, and they definitely want more from this woman. It's an interesting path these three follow; with some delightful twists and turns along the way. HH: Pairs, two sexy men, and a Depravity Dance? I love it! Where did you get the idea for this sizzling story? TG: Why thank you ma'am, it was a pleasure to write. In fact, I'm having a great deal of fun writing the series, ideas just keep coming to me. Taming Marie Antoinette is actually the second in the collection called 'A Passion for Fashion and Bondage'. The stories aren't connected other than, well, fashion and bondage. The Leather Bride is the first one and centers around a designer's muse. When I finished that story I didn't want to leave and briefly outlined three others, one of which included Haute Couture. Shortly thereafter, I wrote a flaming short for my newsletter, hoping to get some of this story out of my mind. Then I made it into the city for an exhibit about Coco Chanel, and it was all over, Taming Marie Antoinette had to be fleshed out. HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this? TG: Every story has it's own unique ways of testing me, and this one threw me a good one. The short story takes place in Paris, France. Everyone lives there, so it was always in the back of my mind how much of the language to use. You see, I like to bring the reader into the space the characters inhabit. This includes amongst other things, local delicacies, architecture, and language. In the end, I used a smattering of French here and there, enough to give the reader a taste of being someplace else, and to emphasize a few points. HH: What challenges did you face? TG: Oh man, it was all fun, but I really enjoyed my time spent with the Michaud brothers. Liana really messes with their minds and it was a blast to create their path to a happy-ever-after. I also liked setting the scene for these lovers. Kir royal sipped and escargot eaten off her, uh-hum, let’s just say these men know how to woo a woman. HH: Have you been to Paris or did you have to research this? TG: Yes, I went once on my own about fifteen years ago, and again at the beginning of this year. I was actually wearing my corporate wife hat on the latter jaunt, but steered my compatriot to places that just happened to fall within research for Taming Marie Antoinette. What timing. HH: What do you like best about your lead characters? TG: They are real. They have actual flaws and I love building them that way. Liana is a lush woman, full of curves and has no worries about how she looks. And the guys, okay, they are fairly perfect, although they have a weakness for their lover and will do anything for her. HH: What do you have coming soon for readers? TG: OohRah! will be out this winter and is about a US Marine who meets his match at a race for breast cancer awareness and never looks back. I adore Dale Smythe, he's a man's man who, when faced with his ideal woman, has no problem letting his guard down and going after her. After that is Ride 'em, a light western that has two wounded souls who find each other during an unusual event at its center. And then the big guy, the Scotsman with a hidden side to him will reveal everything to his mate in Hamish's Secret. HH: What are you working on now? TG: Since you asked, I'll tell you. Right now I'm polishing up The Gilded Cage, which also happens to be the third book in the 'A Passion for Fashion and Bondage' series. This one takes place in England and the heroine is a jeweler about to experience something she never thought possible, professionally that is. Personally, she meets Mr. Wonderful and they have to find a way to make it work, despite living over 200 miles apart. HH: What would readers be shocked to learn about you? TG: Oh man, digging out my secrets, you naughty minx you. Well Holly, you're going to be surprised, so best sit down. Okay, I'm a sports nut, the spectator kind. Yup, I get totally hooked on everything from players to the stats, that said, I have no favorites. I like volleyball, ice hockey, baseball, football - both the US and the rest of the world's kind of footie, rugby, race car driving - F1 big time, I'm still working on NASCAR. Please don't ask me why, I just am, although in a few cases I'm sure the uniforms have something to do with it. HH: What are your plans for the holidays this year? TG:
Thanksgiving is sorted, we're heading out to stay with my family for a few
weeks, have a little sunshine with our turkey. We still aren't too sure about
Christmas. Because we travel so much, we try and stay home, but we're half way
between both our families and this year have reasons to go to both. To be
honest, I think it will be a last minute decision - four or five day notice.
We'll either stay here, go to the left coast or head across the pond. Confused?
So are we, but what I can say is that no matter where we are, it will be a
fabulous time. Holly, it is always a pleasure to chat
with you, have a wonderful holiday season and may all your wishes and dreams
come to be. * * * |
