Author Spotlight Interview at The Pink Possee [February 2006]

New Authors

Welcome to Author Spotlight with The Pink Posse. We are very excited to have author Tilly Greene for our Grand Opening interview. Tilly was selected from our Pink Posse hat full of wonderful writers waiting patiently for an opportunity to promote their little corner of the erotic romance community.

Tilly, welcome to The Pink Posse. You've become a very recognized writer, very quickly in our romance community. We are pleased to have you with us this month, and the opportunity to review Come, Sweet Creature next month in our March review cycle.

What can you tell us about Come, Sweet Creature?

Well, on February 1st, my first story written and accepted, is coming out at Whiskey Creek Press Torrid.  It is a part of the Torrid Twisted Tales line, and I am really excited.  Come, Sweet Creature is a truly naughty rendition of Mary Howitt's children's classic poem 'The Spider and the Fly'.  Tilton Spidermach is a most wicked man who is out to lure his head of PR, Jena Flyno, up into his notorious playroom.  There is a secret side to Jena that grabs Spider by the...well, lets just say he notices that there is more to this woman than meets the eye.

How many releases do you have now?

Last year ended with a bang for me and 2006 is shaping up to be an incredible year with plenty of book releases scheduled.  In December, over at Venus Press, Double Punch, part of the Sons of Zeus line, was released.  It is about Castor and Pollux, the twins also known as the Gemini constellation, are granted a second chance at mortality, but only as long as they find their true loves.  The boys are rather frisky after spending eons up in the sky but they soon meet their soul mate, Anissa George.

A few weeks after that, on New Years day, over at Whiskey Creek Press Torrid, 'The Painted Lady' in their first anthology, Winter Wishes, came out.  This naughty tale opens with Saffron Hoyt, alone, blindfolded, naked, her body painted to resemble a cowgirl gunslinger and left dangling on a hook.  What happens is not at all what she had expected and yet was exactly what she wanted.

When do you find time to write these wonderful stories?

I am a dedicated member of the BIC method of writing - backside in chair!  Every day I write and enjoy wherever the adventure may take me.  Sometimes it is hard work and other times the necessary bathroom break is an inconvenience, but I love every day as it comes.  I have a plan in my head of what I want to work on next - in fact I have my next 2 story lines pretty well thought through and very rough outlines written down, ready for the green flag to wave in their direction.

Has writing become a career or hobby for you?

It is now my career.  Up until this point I have worked in a variety of areas in the book world, and have always been a reader.  But it took a broken hand to sit me down long enough to answer the challenge to write.  From there it spiraled into seven contracts and I thought, well, maybe I should have listened to my mother after all.  Gasp!

Do you have any hobbies that hold your interest?

That is easy - BOOKS!  I am a collector, a very particular collector of books.  Throughout my travels I always make time to hit a used book shop or ten, check out what they have and see if I can hunt out a gem or two.  But my true joy with books is also my super hidden secret...pop-ups.  Yup, the beloved pop-up is a true art form, and often unappreciated the amount of work that is involved.  Over the holidays I used to give a course for kids on how to make pop-up holiday cards, that was a blast!  All the glitter and glue!  I am a proud member of the Moveable Book Society and a real pop-up groupie - one time I got up at 4:00am to catch a bus, to pick up a ticket, to wait in line for 3 hours, to have the current star of paper engineering, Robert Sabuda, sign my copy of his latest book - and I am not a morning person!

How would you describe yourself and how would others describe you?

Hmmm, I am me - a relaxed, completely mellow, comfortable in her own skin, woman who is rather shy.  As for other people, that is tricky, my husband would say loving, soft and gentle.  He often likens me to a cat, cuddly and cozy being two words he uses most.  Family would call me creative and far too tidy and organized, therefore must be a foundling.  Friends would say nice, sweet, thoughtful.

How has your family responded to your career/hobby?

Oh wow, this was a bit of a to-do.  First to know was my husband.  As I laid on the couch with a broken hand, feeling sorry for myself, I answered a call from Whiskey Creek Press Torrid for stories that would fit into their new Torrid Twisted Tale line.  When the contract came through I screamed and called my cutie at work who was thrilled.  A couple hours later he phoned me back and wanted to know if this meant he could retire and be a kept man!  I will definitely be working on that one.  My family was trickier - big mouths and small children were involved so I have been more circumspect.  And that my Mom can not stand, it is now her life's mission to find out all the details, drive's me nuts.  Recently I heard that my eldest niece is going around telling everyone she will be the first to be told the pen name and so now the others are vying to displace her from that podium.  The bribes of homemade cookies and phone calls searching for hints are adorable, but this aunty still says you are too young to read my books!

Is there anything you would like to add in closing?

There is so much I should say like something about saving the rain forest, or protecting the sperm whale, but I think that is best saved for another time.  However, I have a website, www.tillygreene.com, and enjoy working with it and keeping it up to date.  I also have a newsletter called The Monthly Scorcher, it is an interesting mix of news, links, contests, a flaming short and much more.  You can sign up for it at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tilly_greene/.  Thank you very much for shining the beautiful pink light this way [fluffing my hair and tidying up my appearance], and especially during your debut, I am flattered and look forward to more fabulous fun from The Pink Posse.

Thank you Tilly for a perfect interview. Everyone here at The Pink Posse, wish you a huge congratulations on a whirlwind debut year of 2005 and a prosperous 2006. We are looking forward to reading your new addition to a thus-far fantastic collection.

Thank you all, and remember to check out Tilly Greene, author of scorching romances
